Virginia Beemer Early Childhood Education Scholarship

Virginia Beemer Early Childhood Education Scholarship

“The Fund is being established by the Early Childhood Education program in recognition of Virginia Beemer. Prior to her retirement in May of 1998, Virginia Beemer was the Director of the Early Childhood Education Department at Mesa State College, now Colorado Mesa University, for 30 years. During that time, the program grew and evolved into a model program. It served families in our community through the parent education program, the preschool, and the lab school components. The academic part of the program includes an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education.

Virginia was an advocate for children in our community and across the state. Few educators in Colorado can truthfully say they have had such a direct impact on as many children, parents, and students. To commemorate her devotion to the Early Childhood Education field, the Virginia Beemer ECE Scholarship has been established through the Colorado Mesa University Foundation. Donations have been made and donor’s names have been placed on a commemorative quilt which hangs on display in the Early Childhood Education classroom."
