Reisher Scholars Program

Reisher Scholars Program

The Denver Foundation is dedicated to improving life in metropolitan Denver through philanthropy, community, and leadership. A portion of The Denver Foundation’s restricted funds reside in “Supporting Organizations.” One such organization is the Reisher Family Foundation.
Roger L. and Margaret Reisher established the Reisher Family Foundation in January 2000 with the goal of helping worthy students from families with limited financial means complete their college or university degree.

Margaret Reisher grew up in central Kansas and after graduation from Kansas State University, took a position as a home economist with the Gas Service Company in Kansas City.

Roger Reisher grew up on a small farm in southwestern Nebraska. After serving in the Army, he attended the University of Colorado through the GI Bill and in 1950 received a B.S. degree in accounting. He took a job with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which started his 50-year career in banking.

The Reishers were married in 1952 and in 1963, along with their two daughters, moved from Kansas City to Colorado where Mr. Reisher became president of a new bank in Lakewood. That bank later became FirstBank of Colorado. FirstBank is now the largest locally owned and managed banking organization in Colorado.

The Reisher family looks forward to their scholarship program becoming one of the outstanding student assistance programs in Colorado by enabling promising students from Colorado, who do not have sufficient financial resources, to pursue postsecondary education.
