Randall Capp Family Endowed Scholarship
The Randall Capp Family Nursing Scholarship was established by Randall and Joy Capp to assist nursing students. Randall Capp grew up in Grand Valley, graduating from Palisade High School in 1945. After two years in the U.S. Army, Randall returned to the Grand Valley and earned an Associate in Business Degree from Mesa Junior College in 1949. He finished his Bachelor in Business Degree at Tulsa University in 19 51. While attending Tulsa University, he started working for Tandy Corporation and had a 38-year career with Tandy, retiring in 1987. Randall married Joy in 1951 and they returned to the Grand Valley in 1985. They have resided in Grand Junction ever since. Randy served on the Community Hospital Foundation Board for six years. Randall and Joy’s two daughters, Denise and Judith, both graduated from Mesa State College with Bachelor of Art Degrees. Like many alumni, Randy still feels a deep affinity for Mesa State College. In addition, his membership on the Community Hospital Foundation Board demonstrated to him the community’s need for qualified nurses. This scholarship is intended to foster the education of nurses to help fill the ever-increasing need for them the Grand Valley.
