MacEvoy Family Endowed Scholarship
The initial funding of this scholarship endowment was from Shirley MacEvoy Clark and her husband Chuck Clark. The MacEvoy family has a long history of education at Colorado Mesa University. Shirley’s father taught at CMU for many years and his children Shirley (Clark), Warren and Sheila (Hatfield) are all Mesa graduates. Warren is currently a Professor of Computer Science at CMU.
The MacEvoy scholarship is made in honor of Warren MacEvoy (1919-1992); a father, veteran, engineer, world traveler, and lifelong learner. Beyond his considerable knowledge, he is well remembered as a good listener, and an unsurpassed story teller.
His life and our family were fundamentally impacted by the opportunities Colorado Mesa University (then Mesa State College) provided. As a poor family, it is unlikely three siblings would have obtained degrees in Computer Science elsewhere or without financial assistance. The consequences of this drew an indelible arc in our lives.
On occasion of our fathers’ one hundredth birthday, we establish this scholarship to help new students find successful careers in Computer Science. If that is you, please remember a kind and wise man led you here, so you too may tell your stories of the places you have taken in our world and the views they provided.
