Kevin Wagner Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Scholarship was established by the Grand Junction Lions Club to honor the memory of Kevin Wagner for his years of community service as an active Lions Club member. The Grand Junction Lions Club was established in 1921 and has supported Colorado Mesa University since its inception as a Junior College in 1925. The Lions Club members recognize the importance of education and have supported non-traditional scholarship programs for a number of years. This scholarship program will provide support to non-traditional Mesa County residents who might not be able to further their education without this financial assistance. Kevin Wagner was a native Coloradan and proud of it. Kevin greatly advocated public service to make the world, or at least your comer of it, a better place. Accordingly, he was a firm believer in education to create individual and societal opportunities and as an avenue to promote care for all. Kevin graduated from Fruita Monument-High School in 1979. He received his Bachelor of Science n Political Science from Mesa College in 1983, and obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Colorado in 1985. Kevin was a member of the Grand Junction Lions Club for 8 years. He loved the Lions Club and considered its members his second family. His passion for the Club was based on its true commitment and devotion to the community. For one of Kevin’s greatest assets was his love for humankind. He was recorded saying that the reason he joined the Lions Club was to help and support children. Kevin would be so proud and honored to know that he and the Lions Club will forever support the youth through this scholarship. This was his goal and like every other one of his goals, he succeeded at this one too!
