Don Meyers Art Scholarship

Richard Krieger and Ann Sanders Shopbell are establishing this scholarship to remember their friend Don Meyers. In addition to be a friend, Ann and Don were colleagues at CMU for many years.

This scholarship expands on one originally established by CMU’s Department of Art & Design in 2002 to honor Don.

The Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture honored Don Meyers on February 22, of 2002, as a recipient of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. The annual Governor’s Award recognizes individuals and organizations for their significant contributions to Colorado’s cultural environment through creative accomplishments and distinguished service. Don was honored as an outstanding arts educator (professor and former chairman of the Mesa State College (CMU) Art Department0; an imaginative and accomplished artist; and a dedicated volunteer in the arts, serving numerous terms on the Art Center Board of Trustees, involved in arts education in Mesa County Valley School District 51, Art on the Corner, and community arts endeavors.
