Crime Stoppers of Mesa County - Derek Geer Memorial
Crime Stoppers established this scholarship in memory of Deputy Derek Geer who was shot while on duty. These scholarships, are being established to assist students of good character who wish to pursue careers in law enforcement and protect their communities from crime. Crime Stoppers of Mesa County began in 1983 with a volunteer board of 18 community
members sharing the goal of supporting our local law enforcement agencies. This volunteer board was introduced to the Crime Prevention strategies from the success of the initial Crime Stoppers program in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1976. Since our inception we have had great success working with all of our community law enforcement partners, media outlets, and anonymous citizens to prevent and solve crime in our community and deter criminal activity. Crime Stoppers of Mesa County has been honored at National Crime Stoppers conventions for our continued efforts and positive results. The Crime Stoppers of Mesa County volunteer board members continue the mission to develop innovative resources and partnerships to solve and deter crime, resulting in a safer community.
