Bailey 4+1 Scholarship Endowment

Colorado Mesa University has been a family affair for the Bailey’s. Velda and Charles Bailey have been associated with Colorado Mesa University for over 70 years. Both graduated from Mesa Junior College, Charles in 1956 and Velda in 1960.

After a brief departure from Mesa following graduation, they both returned with Velda working in registration, the bookstore and finally finding her passion in developing the Continuing Education center. Velda worked in Continuing Ed from 1982-1998 until her retirement. Many of the processes and procedures she implemented are in use today.

Charles came back as an instructor in the Department of Mathematics and taught from 1965 until his retirement in 2005. He held many roles inside the department and was the Faculty Athletic Representative for athletics and a member of Faculty Senate.

They raised their family at Mesa with both their daughters, Larissa and Tiffany, attending and graduating from Mesa. They are starting this endowment in honor of their dedication to higher education and in honor of the professional fields Larissa and Tiffany enjoy.
